CrossFit Black Bear is a gym that values inclusivity and rejects drama, cliques, and judgment.
When I was in high school, I was an average student. I was not a nerd, and neither was I a popular kid. Also, I had a hard time with kids my age who tried to bully, make fun of, or not accept other kids for who they were. So I knew from there I wanted a job that valued teamwork and belonging.
I started my Firefighter career shortly after high school, where fitness was a major focus. Lifting weights changed my life. It helped me know how to deal with stress. It helps me build confidence, look people in the eye, and feel good about myself.
Years later, I purchased CrossFit Black Bear to share that same gift with others.
We believe that exercise is a celebration of what your body can do, not a punishment for what you ate.
We believe that you must find something you love and celebrate success before you’ll ever be motivated to work out or eat well.
We believe in progress, not perfection.
We believe in coaching.
And we believe in making sure you’re here again tomorrow.
Have there been difficult members along the way? Of course! But since I own the gym, I learn how to keep them out of CrossFit Back Bear. The “we’re-better-than-everyone” garbage doesn’t fly here.
That means we will never be the biggest gym in town. It means we’ll probably never win a CrossFit competition. But we’ll always be the best because of the people under our roof.
If you want to get fit, have fun, and forget about high school, come in and talk to us. We’re not salesmen, either.
