When did you first start training at CrossFit Blackbear and what brought you to CFBB?

  I first started training at CFBB in March of 2023. After some health issues, my cardiologist recommended I start a program to improve my heart health and blood pressure. With improving my balance and mobility. 

Tell us about your sports & fitness background:

  I grew up playing 3 sports and then went on to play softball and cheer during my first year in college.  

How did you first get exposed to CFBB programs?

  After realizing the importance of getting my health back on track, I looked up different gyms/programs and stopped at CFBB because it appeared to be inclusive and professional. It was not intimidating, which was exactly what I was looking for.

What was your first workout, and how did it go?

  My first workout was an assessment of where I was physically and what modifications I may need. My Coach helped to ease my fear of the gym and helped me to feel successful and motivated. Maybe a tiny bit sore? Haha 

Favorite Movement Least Favorite Movement:

  Favorite Movement- wall walks. Least-  Cossack squats 

What class/training time do you typically come to?

I have a Semi-private membership – Wednesdays and Fridays 

What changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness since starting at CFBB (before/after)? 

Since my journey at CFBB I’ve become overall stronger, improved my mobility and balance. I’m no longer experiencing hip pain that would once keep me up at night. My energy level definitely increased. And I’m sleeping better. 

Any advice for people just getting started or new to CrossFit/ Exercise?

If you’re new to fitness in general, it may be challenging at first but you have to stick with it and keep going. Investing in time for your health is one thing you’ll never regret.
