Do Monday’s get you down?

Got a case of the Mondays? Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. Want to know our favorite fix for that? Endorphins! They’re chemicals that interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce the perception of pain, and trigger an overall positive feeling in the body. Not to mention a positive and energizing outlook on life. Sounds good, right?
Endorphins interact with the same receptors in the brain that some pain relieving medications do. The word endorphin literally means “a morphine-like substance originating from within the body.” So, how about an awesome euphoric feeling, all produced by your own body? Hard to argue with that!
Great news for all of us, you release these chemicals when you exercise! It is often referred to as a “runner’s high.” Not convinced you’re going to achieve that feeling of elation after sweating on the treadmill? You don’t have to limit yourself to running to achieve this bliss! Walking your dog, rollerblading, zumba, cleaning (Yes! It’s true!), ping pong, cycling, whatever! Pick something you will enjoy; as long as you get physically active you can release endorphins!
In the end, for us at CrossFit Black Bear that’s what it’s all about. Doing something physically active, that you enjoy spending the time on, that makes you feel good. It’s as simple as that. (And, we won’t hold it against you if you’re not into CrossFit.).
So shake off those Monday Blues, do something active and enjoy yourself!
