Preparation determines success.

We can help you lay out the perfect nutrition program that will optimally fuel your body to help you succeed in reaching your fitness goals. But let’s be honest…there will be those days you are too busy or too tired to stick to your program 100%. We understand this, and this is something with which even we struggle!

Enter the dreaded Fast Food. As you are probably aware, not all fast food is created equal. After much experimentation (believe us, this was a long and arduous process :P) we have narrowed down our recommendations for the Top 4 Restaurants in the Greater Bangor Area that offer healthy options when you are too busy to eat at home or want to spend a night out with friends without blowing your diet.

Best Fast Meal: Verve (Orono, Bangor)

verve The Verve offers fresh and healthy burritos. With two locations, Orono and Bangor, you are never far from a healthy meal. Not to mention all you need to do is order your customized burrito at the counter and watch them make it immediately in front of you. This place gets an A+ when it comes to fast, healthy, and delicious food!

Favorite Meals: El Presidente Breakfast Burrito or Burrito Salad.

Best Restaurant: Kobe Ninja House (Bangor)

kobeThe Kobe Ninja House Japanese Grill is a great choice for celebrations or simply a night out. Kobe takes the top honors when it comes to looking for a place to sit and have a meal while still being mindful of your health. With countless options for sushi, sashimi, and hibachi, you know you are eating the freshest food!

Favorite meals: California Roll

Best Macro-Friendly Meal: Chipotle Mexican Grill (Bangor)

mexicanWhen it comes to eating for specific goals, nothing beats knowing the exact macronutrient ratio of what you are eating. Chipotle Mexican Grill is a nationwide chain and maintains an online database of the fat, carbohydrate, and protein in each dish. If you are in need of a quick burrito fix and want to track the macros, Chipotle is your place!

Favorite meals: Barbacoa and Chicken Salad

Best Vegetarian/Vegan Meal: Fork and Spoon (Bangor)

spoonIs eating meat not your M.O.? The Fork and Spoon is a fast casual restaurant located in the heart of Downtown Bangor that serves up healthy vegetable based salads and sandwiches. If you are trying to cut out added sugars, preservatives and questionable meats, this should be your first stop! Not to mention with a little planning you can make a few menu options Whole30 compliant.

Favorite Meals: West Meets West Salad or In-Repair Smoothie

Nutrition has been shown to be one of the (if not the most) important factors to achieving your fitness and wellness goals. We hope that having this short list of smart, and accessible restaurants will help you continue to make healthy progress, even when there just aren’t enough hours in the day, or you want to kick-back and have a fun time out with friends.

Remember, preparation determines success.

Preparing homemade meals is the most effective way to making sure you’re getting your optimum nutrition. But, you can’t prepare for every circumstance…so make smart restaurant choices when the situation arises!

1. As always, keep your core tight.
2. Keep your knees "soft" throughout the movement.
3. Maintain a flat back by engaging your lats and back muscles.
