Introducing the New Home of CrossFit Black Bear!

Still not sure what exactly CrossFit Black Bear has to offer? Understandable! We’ve been pretty mysterious about it for the past few weeks. Well, wonder no more! We’re excited to finally share the floor layout and a comprehensive 3D rendering of the new home for CrossFit Black Bear!

When CrossFit Black Bear opens in September it will boast nearly 3000 square feet of functional fitness heaven! Take a look at the pictures below to see how we are building our home to better serve our current and new members!

newbox3d-2With 600 square feet of turf we will focus on:
Speed
Agility
Flexibility
Accuracy
Coordination
Balance

We believe EVERYONE has the right to be able to feel comfortable in their body and these skills are achievable by anyone. We will help you regain or improve these skills by individually coaching you through movements like sled pushes, plyometric drills, sport specific training, and bodyweight conditioning including: pushups, situps, and burpees.

newbox3d-3We will have a 24′ Rogue Echo Wall Mounted Rig. Complete with 3 squat and bench stations, and 13 pullup stations, all to maximize functionality. We will use this space to develop: power, strength, cardiovascular endurance, and stamina. Our programming will include movement progressions to teach you skills you never thought you could achieve like pullups, muscle ups, and toes to bar!

Strength will be prioritized so anyone new to barbells will get in-depth introductions and begin training with linear strength progressions. For our more advanced athletes we will include percentage training, and progressive loading.

Additional equipment will include: kettlebells, barbells, jump ropes, med balls, rowers, and an AirDyne bike. Not to mention gymnastics rings, and ropes!

newbox3d-4Additionally, our space will include a 500 square foot dedicated lobby with plenty of benches, and cubbies for personal belongings – members can choose to leave lifting shoes, personal jump ropes, or other personal gym equipment. Each membership will include Member Progress Tracking software designed to help you reach your goal faster!

Our small retail shop will include CFBB branded merchandise and supplements. We hand pick all the products we sell, so you know they work! We will never sell you something we do not personally use and trust. Our supplement shop exists for the singular reason of helping you reach your goal faster!

newbox3d-5For those of you in a hurry to get to work following your workout, we have two bathrooms and a shower for your use.

We will be located in the Old Town Plaza right next to the YMCA. You will find ample parking and easy access to our location from anywhere in the Orono, Old Town, or Bangor area.

Our space has been designed to support our members and to help them reach their goals! We will have small intimate class settings where you will get personal attention every day.

  • While we do most of the leg work when it comes to our health and fitness goals, it doesn't hurt that we're supported by some of the best coaches in the business. Don't forget to show a little love to your coach next time they're done kicking your butt through a workout!
  • The Romanian Deadlift is a variation of the Deadlift that will target and strengthen your butt and lower back. It's very similar to a conventional Deadlift, except the weight does not return to the ground in between reps. Here are a few tips to help get the most out of the Romanian Deadlift:

1. As always, keep your core tight.
2. Keep your knees "soft" throughout the movement.
3. Maintain a flat back by engaging your lats and back muscles.
4. Squeeze your butt at the top.
